FAQ

No. Figma’s widget API doesn’t support dragging items inside a widget. Cards move with the buttons on each card: the arrows between To do and In progress, Send to review, Approve and Revision in Review, and Back to review in Done. To change the order within a column, use Move up and Move down, or change the priority. See Using the board.

Does Task Keeper send notifications or emails?

Section titled “Does Task Keeper send notifications or emails?”

No. Widgets cannot send notifications. Assignments, approvals and revision notes are visible on the card and in its history. To let someone know, mention them in a FigJam comment.

No, Task Keeper has no due dates. If you need them, put the date or the week in a tag or in the task title.

There is no category setting. Use one widget per category and give it the category’s name as its title, for example one widget for Design and one for Development. Each widget has its own tasks, tags, team list and filter, and each new widget picks a different background color. Within one widget, tags group cards further.

A FigJam widget looks the same to everyone, so there are no personal views. The filter is part of the board: when you change it, it changes for everyone. My tasks becomes a filter on your name, so others see your tasks, not theirs. Clear the filter when you are done. See Everyone sees the same filter.

Can I assign someone who has never opened the file?

Section titled “Can I assign someone who has never opened the file?”

No. Figma does not give widgets the member list of a team or organization, so the team list only contains people who were in the file while the widget updated, or who used the widget. Ask the person to open the file and use the widget once, for example by clicking a card’s assign circle, then assign them. See The team list.

I removed someone from the team and they came back. Why?

Section titled “I removed someone from the team and they came back. Why?”

A removed person is not added back automatically when they are in the file, but they are added again as soon as they use the widget themselves: add a task, move or review a card, assign someone, open an assign list or choose My tasks.

Anyone who can use the widget can click Approve or Revision, including the person assigned to the card. Task Keeper has no reviewer role. The approver’s name is shown on the card in Done, and every approval and revision is in the card’s history.

Can I use Task Keeper in Figma Design files?

Section titled “Can I use Task Keeper in Figma Design files?”

Task Keeper is made for FigJam and has only been tested there. Its manifest also lists Figma Design, but behaviour in Design files is untested.

I used a copy of Task Keeper from before it was published. Will its tasks carry over?

Section titled “I used a copy of Task Keeper from before it was published. Will its tasks carry over?”

No. A copy added before publication, for example from a development build, is a different widget for Figma, and its tasks stay in that copy. Add Task Keeper from Figma Community, add the tasks again (paste a list of titles to add them in one go), and delete the old copy when you no longer need it.
