Sequencer

Build / Sync sequence on the Shots page creates or updates the sequences. It also runs right after an import while Build / sync the sequence after the import is on, and from Python as build_sequence(board). It makes:

  • a master sequence <Board>_Master with a shot track, one section per shot, in board order;
  • per shot its own level sequence, <Board>_sh010, <Board>_sh020 … (the board’s Shot Prefix and the shot number; with a scene, <Board>_sc01_sh010). Its section in the master is named sh010 (or sc01_sh010). The shot sequence contains:
    • a spawnable cine camera with the listed lens and a filmback in the board’s aspect (from the board’s Resolution),
    • a camera cut to that camera,
    • the shot’s length.

New cameras start where the level viewport looks. The sequences are saved in <Board>_Sequences next to the board, or in the board’s Sequence Folder. The frame rate is the board’s Frame Rate.

The cameras are spawnables, like the ones Sequencer’s Create Camera makes: animate them with a transform track as usual.

Syncing only changes what the board changed:

  • a shot you trimmed in Sequencer keeps its length, unless the list gives it a new one;
  • a lens you changed on the camera is kept, and the report lists it;
  • cameras, keys and other tracks in the shot sequences stay;
  • new shots get a sequence and a camera;
  • removed shots leave the master sequence (their sequences stay on disk).

After trimming or moving shots in the master sequence, press Pull timing. The lengths and the order of the sections go back into the board, so the shot list, the timing bar and the next animatic match the cut. The status line lists what changed, or says Timing already matches the sequence.

Open in Sequencer (or a double-click on a shot) opens the master sequence with the camera cuts locked to the viewport. Go to shot opens it at the picked shot. The Sequencer toolbar has a Storyboard button that opens the ta Draughtsman panel with the board behind the open sequence.

While the master or a shot sequence is open, the panel over camera follows the playhead.

For final pixels, render the master sequence with Movie Render Queue. Draughtsman’s camera animatic is a fast viewport render for reviewing timing and framing.
