The Shots page

The ta Draughtsman panel has two pages, Shots and Animatic. Above both are the board controls and the panel-over-camera controls.

  • The board’s name, number of shots and panels, total length and frame rate.
  • The board menu (top right, with the board’s name): New storyboard…, Show in Content Browser and the storyboards in the project, to switch boards.
  • Save: saves the storyboard, its panels and its sequences together.

The left side lists the shots of the board in order. Each row shows:

  • the shot number, the first panel and the shot name, for example sh010 Arrival,
  • the shot size and the description,
  • the length in seconds and in frames, and the lens,
  • the number of panels, and a camera icon when the shot is built in Sequencer (in the master sequence with a camera).

Search shots… filters the list by shot number, scene, name, description, dialogue, notes, shot size or camera move. Under the list, the timing bar shows every shot as a block as long as its duration, with the board’s total length; click a block to pick that shot.

Double-click a shot to open it in Sequencer.

Button What it does
Import > Import… Opens the import window.
Import > Re-import Reads the sources of the last import again and shows the changes.
Build / Sync sequence Creates or updates the master sequence: one shot per row with a cine camera, the lens and the duration. See Sequencer.
Open in Sequencer Opens the master sequence with the camera cuts locked to the viewport.
Pull timing Takes the shot lengths and order from the master sequence back into the board.

The right side shows the picked shot:

  • its number and name, and Go to shot, which opens the master sequence at this shot,
  • its panels: click one to show it over the camera,
  • the editable fields: Shot, Name, Shot size, Camera move, Duration (s), Lens (mm), Description, Dialogue and Notes.

A shot without a panel shows a note: animatics show a title card for it, and importing a panel named after the shot number adds one.

The status line at the bottom says what the panel last did, for example Saved 9 package(s). or Master sequence open; the panel follows the playhead.
