Dock

The dock is a folder that every machine sees: a synced cloud folder (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive…) or a network share. Machines leave parcels there for each other, and every project sees what is new for it. It works anywhere the folder syncs, with nothing to set up on the network, and the other machine doesn’t have to be online at the same time.

  1. On the Dock page, press Choose folder… and pick the shared folder.

  2. Do the same on every machine that should exchange parcels, picking the same shared folder (its local path can differ from machine to machine).

Ferryman keeps its parcels in a ta-ferryman subfolder there. The folder is also the Dock Folder setting.

  1. Select assets or folders in the Content Browser.
  2. On the Dock page, press Put on dock, or right-click and choose ta Ferryman > Put on the dock.

Tick Also for older engines on the Transfers page first if an editor with an older engine version will take it. See Older engine versions.

Tick Lock with a code before Put on dock to encrypt the parcel. Ferryman shows a six-word code (and copies it): give it to the receiver another way, for example in a chat. Without the code, a locked parcel can’t be opened, and the dock doesn’t even show what is inside.

The Parcels list shows what is on the dock, newest first: the parcel’s name (or Locked parcel), who left it (project and machine), the engine version, the number of packages, the size and the age. Parcels this project hasn’t taken yet are marked new.

  1. For a locked parcel, type its six-word code.
  2. Press Take. The parcel is copied into the project and the review opens.
  3. Land it. The parcel is then marked taken for this project; other projects can still take it.

Parcels you left yourself are marked yours and can be taken off the dock with Remove.

  • The dock is plain files. Cloud folders keep their own history and sharing rules; anyone who can read the folder can take unlocked parcels.
  • Each project remembers what it took in its Saved/Ferryman folder.
