Fab Submission
Selling a project or plugin on Fab? The Fab Submission preset checks your content for the things Fab’s review rejects: file names with characters Fab doesn’t accept, file paths that are too long, and inconsistent or missing prefixes.
Turn it on
Section titled “Turn it on”-
In the panel header, open the Preset menu (left of Scan project) and choose Fab Submission.
-
The choice is saved to
Config/DefaultEditor.ini, and the project is scanned. Fab issues appear under the Fab category, which is only shown while there are Fab issues. -
Click the Fab chip or the Errors card to see what Fab would reject. Fix what you can with the Fix button of a row, Fix checked (N) or Fix all (N), and rename the rest by hand.
Choosing Epic Recommended or Allar Style Guide again turns the Fab checks off.
What it checks
Section titled “What it checks”The preset does three things.
1. A naming table for Fab. The Epic Recommended table plus rows for sounds (_Wav, _Cue, ATT_, SCL_, Mix_), Geometry Cache (GC_), material functions and parameter collections (MF_, MPC_), levels (L_, Map_, LV_), foliage and landscape layers (FT_, LL_) and Cascade particle systems (PS_). See the full table.
2. Fab file names (Fab.FileName, Error). File and folder names may only contain A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and _. Allowed Extra Characters is ignored here.
[Fab] File name contains space, '-', 'ş'. Fab only accepts A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and _ in file names. Suggested: M_Tas_Duvar[Fab] Folder 'Old Stuff' contains space. Fab only accepts A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and _ in folder names; rename the folder.Asset names get a rename fix; folders have to be renamed by hand. While these checks are on, Naming.InvalidCharacters reports nothing, so you don’t see the same problem twice.
3. Fab path length (Fab.PathLength, Error). The path of each file inside the uploaded project or plugin, such as MyPack/Content/Props/SM_Rock.uasset, must not be longer than Max Fab Path Length (170 by default).
[Fab] The uploaded file path is 182 characters long, Fab's limit is 170: MyPack/Content/... Shorten folder or asset names. This is separate from Path.Length, which keeps checking the package name against Max Package Path Length (140).
Naming.Consistency also helps here: for asset types without a table row, it reports assets that don’t use the prefix most of their siblings use. See Rules.
The commandlet reads the same settings, so a project saved with the Fab Submission preset runs the Fab checks in CI too. To run them once without changing the project settings, add -Fab:
UnrealEditor-Cmd.exe "C:\Path\MyPack.uproject" -run=TAAssetDoctor -Fab -FailOn=Error -Report=Saved/AssetDoctor/fab.json -unattended -nop4 -nosplash -NullRHISettings
