Changelog

Update.

  • Supports Unreal Engine 5.0 to 5.8 (was 5.6 to 5.8).
  • Match colours on the Compare page: suggested exposure, white balance, saturation and contrast, optionally midtones, highlights and blacks; previewed in the viewport and corrected over a few rendered passes; Apply to the camera the viewport looks through, an unbound Post Process Volume or a new volume in one undoable step; an optional LUT texture or .cube file. Compare hints link to it, and Compare has new hints for a cooler or warmer scene.
  • Colour vision preview (protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, 0–100% severity) in the viewport, on the board and in the palettes, with a palette check that lists the colour pairs that look alike.
  • Composition guides: rule of thirds, golden sections and spiral, diagonals, reciprocal diagonals, centre cross, safe frames and aspect masks, saved per camera or bookmark in the board.
  • Python calls for all of it (solve_color_match, apply_color_match, set_color_vision, check_palette_vision, set_guides, save_guides_for_camera and more).
  • Panel: Vision and Guides menus in the viewport bar, the palette check in the inspector, and the Match colours card. The publisher name is shown once, in the footer, whose links go to the website, contact and documentation.
  • License wording follows Fab’s Personal and Professional license definitions.
  • Your boards, palettes and color scripts are kept: boards made with 1.0 open unchanged.
  • Personal license $14.99, Professional license $39.99 on Fab.

Update, 2026-10-19.

  • The Off-palette check now works with palettes of up to 12 colours (was 8).
  • Changes in Project Settings apply right away; no editor restart needed.
  • Clearer wording in the panel: pasting images from the clipboard is Windows only, camera bookmarks use keys 0–9, and where to find Limner in the Tools menu.
  • The Fab link in the plugin’s details now opens the live listing.
  • Fixed a compile error on Mac with Unreal Engine 5.8.
  • Your reference boards, palettes and color scripts are kept.

Initial release.

  • Reference board: an endless canvas with images, sticky notes and group frames, with zoom, pan, move, resize, duplicate, arrange and undo. Boards are assets and can belong to a level and open with it.
  • Adding references: image files (PNG, JPEG, EXR, HDR, TGA, BMP, TIFF) by drag and drop or file dialog, textures from the Content Browser, the clipboard and viewport captures. Images are stored inside the board.
  • Viewport overlay in four modes: Overlay, Difference, Onion skin and Wipe, with Fit, Fill or Stretch per reference.
  • Camera and bookmark links: a reference appears by itself when the viewport looks through its camera, Sequencer locks it to that camera, or it jumps to its bookmark.
  • Viewport views: Values, Notan with 2 to 5 bands, and Off-palette.
  • Palettes extracted from references, and a key palette per board.
  • Compare: value structure, palette score, mean lightness, contrast, previews in colour, values and notan, a lightness histogram, value band areas, palette shares and hints on what to change.
  • Color script from Sequencer shots or camera cuts, cameras or bookmarks, with a value curve, palettes and average colours, click-to-return, PNG and JSON export and a strip on the board.
  • Python and Blueprint API through TALimnerSubsystem, including comparisons, palettes and value images from files without a viewport.
  • Settings stored in Config/DefaultEditor.ini for sharing through source control.
  • Supports Unreal Engine 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 (Win64, Mac and Linux editor). Personal license $9.99, Professional license $29.99 on Fab.
