Quick start
Ferryman needs to be installed in every project that sends or receives.
Two editors on one machine
Section titled “Two editors on one machine”-
Open two projects with Ferryman.
-
In the first project, select assets in the Content Browser and press Ctrl+C.
-
In the second project, open a folder in the Content Browser and press Ctrl+V. The assets arrive in that folder with everything they use.
Or right-click the assets and choose ta Ferryman > Send to > (the other project). A parcel sent this way lands at the same paths, like Migrate, unless you choose otherwise in the review.
Between machines on your network
Section titled “Between machines on your network”-
Open the ta Ferryman panel (Tools > tridiART > ta Ferryman) on both machines. They appear on each other’s Editors page. If they don’t, see Allow it through the firewall.
-
Select assets in the Content Browser and press Send next to the other editor.
-
The other editor shows a notification. Review opens the arrival: both editors show the same four check words for a first contact. Compare them with the sender before you land.
-
Tick Trust this machine from now on so that later parcels land without asking, unless something differs.
Over the internet
Section titled “Over the internet”Two ways, depending on what you have:
- Dock: pick the same synced folder (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or a network share) on both machines on the Dock page, then press Put on dock. The other machine presses Take. Works everywhere, nothing to set up on the network. See Dock.
- Code: the receiver presses Make a code on the Code page and gives it to you. You paste it, select assets and press Send. The editors connect directly: this needs a VPN such as Tailscale or ZeroTier, or a forwarded port on the receiver’s router. See Connection codes.
There is no tridiART server in between: parcels go from editor to editor, or through your own shared folder.
As a file
Section titled “As a file”Right-click assets and choose ta Ferryman > Save as parcel file… to get one .ferry file with everything they use. Send it any way you like (chat, mail, a USB stick). On the other side, drag it into a Content Browser, or right-click a folder and choose Land a parcel file here… See Parcels.
What next
Section titled “What next”- Keep assets in sync while you work on them: Live links.
