Changelog

Update.

  • Unreal Engine 5.0 to 5.8 (was 5.6 to 5.8).
  • Machine translation with context: each text goes with its location, note, maximum length, the texts around it with their translations and the memory match; project brief, style guide, formality and notes per language, and the glossary terms. DeepL gets them as context, custom instructions, formality and an optional DeepL glossary. See Machine translation.
  • Presets for DeepL (free and Pro), OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, OpenRouter, Ollama and LM Studio; a separate DeepL key and review key; retries for busy services.
  • Review pass and review queue: verdicts, scores, issues and suggestions; machine translations sorted by risk with reasons; accept the low-risk ones, apply suggestions, reject. See Review queue.
  • Translator packages and imports in Excel (.xlsx) and XLIFF 1.2 / 2.0, with protected inline codes and review states. See Translators.
  • Setup checks with one-click repair (missing dependency manifests, missing manifests, gather paths, native language, configs, loading policy, Localizations to Package, a missing target), and Gather in its own process with a log window, hints and saved logs. See Repair gather setup.
  • Commandlet: -RepairGather, -Gather, -Review, Excel and XLIFF export and import. See Command line & CI.
  • Python: export_package_as (Excel, XLIFF), apply_machine_preset, the review pass and queue (review_machine_translations, accept_low_risk, reject_machine, apply_review_suggestions), run_gather and show_review_entry. See Python.
  • Panel: a Review page for the machine translations; a machine translation dialog with presets, context and the careful choice; Repair gather setup and a Gather window with progress and log; a Target menu in the header; the import review shows the file’s format, tool and language, and blocked rows apart from skipped ones; a narrow layout when docked. The publisher name is shown once, in the footer, whose links go to the website, contact and documentation. See Editor panel.
  • License wording follows Fab’s Personal and Professional license definitions.
  • From 1.1.0 the Personal license is $19.99 and the Professional license $49.99 on Fab.

Update, 2026-10-17.

  • Editor build: the editor panel and the import window no longer have helper functions with the same name, so the plugin compiles cleanly however Unreal groups source files into units (unity builds).
  • Data folder card: the Glossary & memory page shows the data folder relative to the project (Localization/Dragoman) instead of its full path on disk.
  • Fab link: the Fab link in the plugin’s details (Edit > Plugins) opens the live listing.

Initial release.

  • Editor panel (Tools > ta Dragoman) with a card per language, a Texts page with filters (To do, Missing, Changed, Machine, Problems, All), search and sorting, a details pane to edit translations and use memory suggestions, a Findings page and a Glossary & memory page.
  • 24 checks in three groups: setup (NoTarget, NotGathered, NoForeignCulture, EngineManifestMissing, CompileNeeded, Conflict), translation (Missing, Stale, Machine, Identical, Placeholder, Pattern, RichTag, Whitespace, Length, Glyph, Glossary, DoNotTranslate) and assets (HardcodedText, StringToText, BrokenStringTableRef, UnusedStringTableEntry, NotInManifest, OutsideGather), with severities you can change per rule.
  • Font check that reads the character maps of your UI fonts, including composite fonts with their fallback and sub-fonts.
  • Changed source texts: keep a translation for the new source with one click, for one text or a selection.
  • Translator packages as CSV or PO, one file per language, with context, notes, maximum lengths, glossary terms and memory suggestions, and a README for translators.
  • Reviewed imports of CSV and PO files, including PO files exported by the Localization Dashboard, with a dialog that lists every new, changed and skipped row before anything is written.
  • Glossary, notes, translation memory and review marks as plain files in Localization/Dragoman.
  • Pseudo-localization in one click, with accents, padding and brackets that keep format arguments, plural blocks and tags.
  • Machine translation (optional) with DeepL or any OpenAI-compatible service, with checked answers and review marks.
  • Gather and Compile from the panel; compiling runs inside the editor.
  • Content Browser entry Check Text for Blueprints, widgets, data tables and data assets.
  • Data Validation integration for hardcoded text, To Text conversions and broken string table keys.
  • HTML and JSON reports.
  • TADragoman commandlet for CI with -Target, -Paths, -NoAssets, -Cultures, -IgnoreMissing, -FailOn, -Report, -Formats, -NoReport, -ReadOnly, -Import, -Culture, -DryRun, -Export, -Todo, -Machine, -AcceptStale, -Pseudo and -Compile, and exit codes 0, 1 and 2.
  • Python and Blueprint API through TADragomanSubsystem.
  • Settings stored in Config/DefaultEditor.ini for sharing through source control; the machine translation key per user.
  • Supports Unreal Engine 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 (Win64, Mac and Linux editor). Personal license $9.99, Professional license $29.99 on Fab.
