Controls
Photo mode plays with keyboard and mouse or with a gamepad, and switches between them on the fly: the button prompts at the bottom of the screen follow the device the player last used, and always show the keys that are actually mapped. To change the keys, see Input.

Up and down move a line of tiles inside a grid (looks, stickers) before leaving it. Holding an arrow key or a D-pad direction repeats it: rows move after 0.4 seconds and then every 0.12 seconds, values after 0.35 seconds and then every 0.06 seconds.
The P key comes from the project settings (Add Open Key, Open Keys) and toggles photo mode in any level. Games that open photo mode from their own menu turn it off; see Opening photo mode.
- Click a row to select it, click ‹ or › to step it, click or drag a slider to set it. Clicking elsewhere on a choice row steps it forward. The mouse wheel over a row steps it.
- Click a tab to open it.
- On the Lens tab, click the picture to lock focus on what is under the cursor.
- On the Looks tab, click a tile to pick it and double-click it to apply the look (or save into a free slot).
- On the Stickers tab, click a sticker in the grid to pick it, and click the picture to place it there.
- On any tab, drag a sticker to move it, scroll over it to resize it, and hold Shift and scroll to rotate it.
The gallery is browsed with the keyboard or a gamepad; its Open file button shows the file in the system file browser (desktop platforms).
While the share code or Rename look box is open, it takes the keyboard and gamepad, so typing never moves the camera or takes a photo.
Moving stickers with a gamepad
Section titled “Moving stickers with a gamepad”Choose Move sticker on the Stickers tab (adding a sticker with a gamepad starts it automatically):
| Gamepad | Keyboard | |
|---|---|---|
| Move | Left stick | W A S D |
| Size | Right trigger, left trigger | E, Q |
| Turn | Right stick left and right | |
| Done | A or B | Enter or Esc |
Button prompts
Section titled “Button prompts”The prompt bar at the bottom of the screen lists what the player can do right now:
- Menu: Take photo (or Record clip) · Hide menu · Gallery · Tabs · Lock focus (Lens tab) · Look (mouse) · Exit
- Menu hidden: Take photo (or Record clip) · Show menu. The bar fades out after three seconds.
- Recording a clip: Stop · Cancel (Space Stop, Esc Cancel)
- Gallery: Browse · Play / Pause (clips; Enter Play / Pause) · Delete (Del Delete) · Back
- Moving a sticker: Move · Size · Turn · Done
Gamepad buttons are drawn as Xbox-style coloured buttons. In games with CommonUI controller data, the prompts can use your own controller icons instead (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch); see CommonUI.
